The Need To Define “Green” Insulation
More and more consumers are looking to buy or build homes that are considered “green.”
A September, 2007 “Green Building Survey” done by Professional Builder included these
startling statistics: “A quarter of all respondents said green building is extremely important to
their market strategy, and 45 percent said it was somewhat important. Seventy two percent of
those who build one to 10 homes a year felt it was extremely or somewhat important, while 66
percent of those who build more than 10 homes a year did. There’s no huge difference between
those who build exclusively custom homes, production homes or a mix of both—all hover
around 70 percent.

Peripheral Manufacturing, Inc. a Denver Based firm is please to announce a new innovative Fire Fighting Tool “First Responder” for use in emergency egress or entrance situations. It delivers a highly effective Aerosol Fire Suppression Agent. Upon activation it produces an exceptionally effective, ultra fine, potassium based aerosol spray to knock down or extinguish a fire. It is NFPA 2010 approved, is environmentally friendly, and will not deplete oxygen. The First Responder has been favorably reviewed by EPA for SNAP listing.

The small size for The First Responder, slightly larger than a can of soup, makes it easily portable. The unit is activated by removing a safety clip and pulling the ring pin. The unit can be thrown near the fire – where it will active following a 5 second time delay. Fire suppression is achieved through interference between the ultra-fine aerosol particulate and the flame’s free radicals- terminating propagation of the fire. The agent will hang in suspension after delivery providing ongoing suppression capabilities. Typical coverage, depends on specific characteristics of the situation encountered, is around 20 cubic meters; 8’ x 10’ x 10’. Aerosol flows and spreads rapidly throughout the volume or spaces-in a manner similar to gas. The First Responder unit remains intact sending out an aerosol stream in a circular discharge pattern around the base of the unit.

The first Responder is packaged in a kit of four units in a divided storage box. Each unit is protected by a clear plastic sleeve. The unit is not pressurized prior to activation. The First responder has a shelf live of over Ten Years when stored at temperatures of -54%C (-65%F) to + 54%C (130%C).
